5 stars (Good book!) - really useful if you are a backyard tinkerer and if not this is a cool little bedside book to browse through 5 stars (Perfect book for inventors and makers) - This is a dictionary for basic mechanical engineering. Schools have ruined physics and engineering by drowning the core material in math. This book is a simple "I need this motion to cause that motion handbook." If you are familiar with Arthur Ganson's sculpture, you will find many of the common joints he uses in this book. [...] I'm in electronics, and I needed a little bit of help with gears and adapting motion from motors, and this book is perfect. If you need to calculate torque or really get into the math of things get a textbook (or a real mechanical engineer). But if you like to tinker this book will open up your imagination to many different solutions. For the price you can't beat it. 5 stars (If this doesn't get you thinking....) - ...you must be dead. Simply a gem of a book. I've bought modern copies on two separate occasions to make sure I have it on hand, and I recently was lucky enough to find an 1879 copy. Apparently it was published in 1868, and by 1879 it was already into its 12th printing- couldn't happen unless a lot of people found it really useful. Buy a copy- you definitely won't regret it. ...

Of the information in this LITTLE publication MOST OF IT can be easily found online unless you are a beginner,most of the information presented in this publication is pretty basic and is sold as...well you may try. Will the author try Yahoo or MSN too? Not a bad idea Well dont be so hard try the "Stupid Google Tricks" you are only giving away $2.00 dollars it may worth the expense 1 stars (N. L. Saltz is right!) - I agree with Saltz, Don't Waste Your Money!. I usually read these reviews before buying. This time I didn't and boy do I wish I had. This "book" is out dated and probably never did have any useful information that is not available of the Google site. And guess what the arrow on the cover is covering up? The list price is $1.99. Jewish Literacy- The Most Important Things to Know About the Jewish Religion- Its People and Its His

5 stars (Christian point of view) - I found this book very informative. Don't let the size scare you, it's any easy read. Everything on the basics of Judaism is in this book. Everything from history to religion. It left me wanting to know more....Rabbi Joseph Telushkin also includes a wonderful,useful index and references some interesting further reading books. This book has become a permanent part of my library. Highly recommned! 3 stars (Orthodox Jewish Literacy ) - As a non-Jew interested in getting a better grasp of all of the traditions and beliefs of the Jewish faith I'm glad I read through this book first before buying it. It is written by an Orthodox rabbi and assumes an Orthodox, literalist approach on all topics, the ordination of women and homosexuality to cite just two of the more controversial issues. Now, this would be fine if the book were marketed as an Orthodox text but it is advertised as a comprehensive book of general Jewish wisdom for everyone. What is a Jew? by Morris Kertzer (5th edition) and updated four times since 1953 is a much more comprehensive and wide-ranging introductory book that covers the stance of each branch of Judaism to various issues organized in an easy question and answer format. It makes very clear all the differences between the different branches (Orthodox, Conservative and Reform) and how they approach various moral/ethical/social issues. Since (according to a recent poll) about 85% of Jews consider themselves either Reform or Conservative (not Orthodox) I think any general book on Judaism should include much more diverse viewpoints possible within a Jewish framework than this book allows for. Jewish Wisdom is well-written, nicely annotated and a great resource for the Orthodox though. It's really quite good for what it is but readers looking for a broader overview beyond the limits of an Orthodox angle will need to look elsewhere. 5 stars (Belongs on every Jewish Bookself) - The author has a gift for being a...
