5 stars (A must read for all professionals working with families) - This book is insightful as the author elaborates on different ethnic populations and the broad range of cultural influences that family therapists encounter in clinical practice. It is a must read for all professionals working in the field of family therapy, social work, psychotherapy and counselling who work with different ethnic populations. 5 stars (The Best There Is On The Influences of Our Ancestors) - Ethnicity and Family Therapy is quite simply the best book that exists to any interested person as well as students and professionals with a good overview of important factors to understand when dealing with differences that exist in people. I first became familiar with Monica McGoldrick about eighteen years ago. She has devoted her life's work to research and writing on the influences of ancestry and ethnicity in our contemporary lives. Every time I pick this book up (over the first and second editions), I find myself lost in it as if it is my first discovery of it and I always learn something new! A great book for a discussion group to consider. 5 stars (A Must for anyone working with families) - I have been using this book and the earlier book in my practice for more than ten years. It has been vital to my work not only with other cultures, but my own (Irish)> I have often shared the readings with my clients who also found the chapters on their cultures to be acurate. If there was going to be one book on my shelf, this would be it. Got a copy to sell I would buy it as a back-up! ...

After the Affair- Healing the Pain and Rebuilding Trust When a Partner Has Been Unfaithful

4 stars (Rebuilding) - The one good thing I found in this book is the expression of real rage and the range of emotions that are most often felt when the "faithful" one has been betrayed by the "unfaithful" one. I found the book does bring some vlauable insight for the 'unfaithful' to understand the emotions that the 'faithful' does go through. If you are looking to rebuild and restore your life, I recommend the insight this book gives, along with another one called 'Stop Being the String Along' by Barbara Rose which has provided me with life changing answers. Give both books a look, as you will find enlightening answers. 5 stars (After the Affair) - This was a very well written book and very helpful for all kinds of marital problems. 4 stars (My review of After . . .) - AFTER THE AFFAIR is a must read if you are struggling in the aftermath of an affair. It provides such a great insight on why things happen and really challenges to explore your heart and feelings. Another great thing about it is that it does not place outright blame on one party or another, looks at both spouses perspectives of the situation and gives the necessary tools to start rebuilding. Things that other people, family, therapists, etc. may have told you a hundred times but never really made sense become clear with reading this book. It has helped me very much so far and my friends are now reading it as well. Other books I recently read and enjoyed were: THE LOVELY BONES, LUCKY, and THE CHILDREN'S CORNER by Jackson McCrae. ...

Family Therapy - An Overview with InfoTrac

3 stars (Family Therapy An (Humdrum) Overview) - This text is very dry reading. As a student, I had to force myself to read by promising myself rewards every ten pages (yes! I can go get a drink! Then ten more pages and then yes! I can call my mom!) And I am interested in the subject, and love to read. The information is good, detailed, etc. but the method is dry. In comparison, my counseling theories text was easy to read, informative, and interesting, and it didn't take self positive reinforcing to get me to read the whole thing. 5 stars (Fantastic Introduction to Family Therapy) - As a student of Family Therapy I am keenly aware of the need to have first-class resources that utilize proven techniques and that are theoretically sound. This text by the Goldenberg's, I have been told, is a veritable classic. I can see why. The book is very logical in its layout and construction, with the authors eschewing jargon and therapy-speak for clear, lucid, and cogent language. I have come to learn that there is a world of difference between individual therapy, and family therapy. The Goldenberg's make sure that this vital distinction is clear to the reader, and they do so without pedantry. I would recommend this book as a resource or as the primary text for any graduate level family therapy course. This book is so comprehensive that it can stand alone, or be used to supplement your studies. 4 stars (A classic text for intoduction to family therapy) - This is one of the oldest and most classic family therapy text. Many experienced counselors have benefited from previous editions of the book. I read it several years ago, and I am also the co-translator of the Chinese edition of this book (4th ed.). It took us a LOT of time in the translation process. Because the language is full of jargons and the sentences are very long. It's a bit difficult for non-English speaking people. Fiance - Marriage Visas- A Couple-s Guide to U S Immigration- 3rd Edition

5 stars (Excellent in-depth immigration assistance!) - I read this book cover to cover when it arrived in the mail. It was extremely easy to read and understand. I have been working on getting my paperwork turned in to the USCIS since I got married last year. The chapters covered all of the forms that I needed to complete in detail and gave me the confidence to submit them on my own. It is a bit overwhelming when you know that you have to submit all of the documents into the government, and this book is very lengthy, but with it's help, you will be able to navigate through the jargon and commonly made mistakes of the forms and have everything filled out and ready to go. Good luck! 5 stars (This book is AMAZING) - I 100% recommend this book to anyone trying to move or stay in the US through marriage. I am from Canada and married a US citizen and was having a lot of trouble figuring out which paperwork needed to be filed and what sort of documents were needed. This book laid everything out step by step and I never would have been able to file all of the paperwork on my own nor would I have been able to understand all of the jargon. The CD ROM is also very nice because many of the forms let you fill them out on the computer and just print them out. Good luck to anyone going through this process. And just an FYI it is really expensive! 5 stars (Excellent Immigration Resource!!) - My husband (then my fiance) and I used the first edition when we were filling out the paperwork for his K1 fiance visa. I am thrilled to hear that there is a new one! This book was an answer to our prayers - it guided us through all the forms and terminology, gave us helpful tips and pointers, and answered all of our questions.
