Over at Museum of Hoaxes, Alex has posted two photos taken through airplane windows. He says: "One of these might be fake. Can you guess which?" Maddeningly, he hasn't told us which one is fake (by that, I am guessing he means there's no Photoshop trickery involved and that they are unretouched photographs).
Perhaps neither one is fake. In the comments section, one reader says the giraffe is probably a cutout of a photo that's been taped to the window. The shadow cast by the giraffe is a giveaway, he says.
And the other photo of the man with his legs sticking out of the engine might have been taken on the ground, says one reader. What looks like clouds could be snow on the runway.

GM spliced and diced a Chevy Volt hydrogen prototype and put it up for the world to see at this year's 2008 CES. Rocking GM's fifth generation fuel cell stack en-lieu of a regular gasoline engine, we wouldn't hold our breath seeing this before the electric version drops in 2010. Peep the gallery below for the full run-down.

A six-foot Giant Pacific octopus at Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay, Cornwall loves his Mr Potato Head toy and "turns aggressive" when anyone tries to take it away from him.
'He's fascinated by it,' said Matt Slater, of the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay, Cornwall. 'He attacks the net we use to fish the toy out every time we try to take it away.'
Mr Slater added: 'Octopuses are very intelligent and they like to be stimulated and busy.'

Very little is known about the glofiish V900 from E-TEN -- in fact, nothing is known about it other than what we have on this promotional image advertising E-TEN's presence at the GSM Association's Mobile World Congress next month. What few details are revealed here, though, are pretty freakin' notable. The V900 apparently supports DVB-H, DVB-T, T-DMB, and DAB broadcasts, unifying half a world's worth of digital television and radio broadcast standards in a single device. We guess we'll have to wait until the big show in a few weeks to figure out the rest, but if we were the betting types, we'd wager that it'll probably be available in black and blue.

Alienware made quite a splash when it announced its new Area-51 m15x and m17x laptops a couple of months back, but anyone actually planning on buying one has had to put up with quite a wait for any firm release details. That's now changed in a big way, however, as two of the m15x models are available to order immediately, with the third promised soon. Unfortunately for those looking for a bargain, the two available now are the higher end models, coming in at $2,099 and $2,699, with the "low-end" $1,499 model only listed as "coming soon." Of course, you can't expect everything to be let loose at once, and Alienware still seems to be dragging things out with the 17-inch model, although we wouldn't expect it to be too much longer before it makes itself known. [Thanks, Dimitri, Ryan]

We already knew that hacking of Archos 5 series players was picking up some considerable steam, but it now looks like that effort has produced the first genuinely useful (to some) hack, with the Linux-based Qtopia platform now up and running on at least some of the devices. Better yet, there's already a complete how-to available to guide you through the process, although, as always, it's not exactly suited to those concerned with warranties and whatnot. What's more, while the hack is intended primarily for 5 series devices like the Archos 605, some users have apparently also had success with the 604 WiFi (as seen above), although that seems to be a slightly more complicated process. If you're still not deterred, you can hit up the links below for the full rundown and relevant discussion.
